The Retromancers are an energetic, multifaceted, band with influences and music covering classic rock and New Wave (and points in between), covering everyone from Led Zeppelin to Pat Benatar and Talking Heads to The Cars. The band consists of Andrew Barash and Dave Giamalis on guitars, Hannah Kramer on lead vocals, Michael Smith on bass and Bill Pearce on drums. The Retromancers have been playing since 2015.
With an emphasis on playing great upbeat music, The Retromancers features Hannah’s powerful vocals out front. Bringing the fire and brimstone to bear, our two great guitarists, Andrew and Dave, do some serious shredding. And the thunder and lightning are brought to you by Bill and Michael.
We hail from different parts of the country (Missouri, Connecticut, New York, New Mexico, and our local son, Andrew, right here from Seattle) and through our love for music, we found each other. We come from diverse backgrounds that include a wide variety of musical interest including hard rock, 80’s pop, heavy metal, new wave, funk, and progressive rock just to name a few.
So come to one of our shows, have some fun, and enjoy the music as brought to you by five talented folks who want you to have a good time!
Check out our Set List. We tailor our Set List for each venue and provide short gigs (45 minutes where we share the venue with one or two other bands) to longer, evening sets of 90+ minutes.
It’s FALL!!! Yeah, the Summer flew by, and with it, a lot of fun times playing at some great venues across the general Seattle area.
The Retromancers were fortunate to be able to play some great venues this summer. Of course, it started with our second home, The Skylark in West Seattle, followed by Tim’s Tavern, and our annual 4th Of July Party at Peter G’s on Lake Tapps. We had the great opportunity to play with our friends, Project33, Midnight Snack, and some new bands we’ve started hanging with (all bodes well for local music in Seattle). We’ve all agreed it was a great gathering and lots of fun music, so much so that we’re working on getting back together for future dates…so definitely stay tuned!
On July 13th, we played for a great crowd at The PONO Ranch. Titled An Evening With The Retromancers, it was our first time at this great, great venue. We played two rocking sets and are already looking forward to performing there in the future!
We wound up with an evening at The Hidden Door in Shoreline, also a brand-new venue for us. There, we joined our friends, Midnight Snack (and we’ve already landed a gig with them next summer), for a fun night of classic and new wave rock.
Our last show scheduled show was our annual event, Westfest, at Holy Rosary school in West Seattle. It’s always a great way to close out the Summer, and we had an even better time as we were joined by our friends, Project33. It’s a great event that’s family friendly and features food, entertainment, and afternoon magic shows for the kids (yeah…there’s a bouncy house too). Of course, the rocking kicked in later in the evening, as did the crowd in the beer garden! Even better, we can say that they’ve asked us back so chances are really good that we and Project33 will be playing Westfest next year!!!!!
Now, as we head towards the end of the year, we’re looking forward to new events and gigs, but being just like everyone else, we’ve got home projects, Fall stuff, vacations, trips, and all the other demands that comes with life. So we may be a little shy here for a bit, but always be sure to check our website here and our other social media platforms for the latest news. We’ll be back on the road again with some new additions to our set lists and ready to kick your ass with some fine rock!

Many of you who enjoy local, live music in Seattle, may be aware that The Skylark Cafe in West Seattle has to relocate due to the upcoming light rail station plans by the City Of Seattle. There was a benefit for The Skylark on October 11th, and many of you came out in support (Thank YOU!!), but as they say “It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over”
As the City’s offer for relocation help is far short of what the real costs will be, we are asking you to join The Skylark in helping by supporting the Move The Skylark program. They are fundraising in order to acquire a new venue and to help the staff maintain their lives during the transition. Thus, we are seeking your assistance..
You can easily make a donation by going to https://givebutter.com/LetsMoveTheSkylark
Thank you for your support. Love and Peace
Michael

On Nov. 6th, 2021, The Retromancers had a recording session at Uberbeatz Studio in Lynnwood, Wa. We performed and recorded five songs that have become part of our rotating set list and are audience favorites. No overdubs, just the five of us plus our friend, Rai Lyons on keys and vocals, making some fun music. It was a great day, and we enjoyed the support of each other as well as Gavin Olson, sound engineer from 3moonsaudio. You can check out the audio on our SoundCloud Channel, or the videos on our YouTube Channel.
Here are just a few highlights from the band, but be sure to see our entire collection of vids and music.
